Well, sometimes planning ahead only a little bit in advance works – sometimes it doesn’t. In this case for us, it didn’t work quite so well as there wasn’t much accommodation available in Glasgow or other towns along the way over the weekend so we ended up staying in Inverness an extra night.
This extra day gave us the opportunity to head out for a day trip to the Loch Ness to see if we could wrestle ourselves a monster. Unfortunately for us, Takeshi was only able to wrestle some rather suspiciously unmoving Nessies (I think they were statues… don’t tell Takeshi though, he might be a bit disappointed) and no real Loch Ness monsters were spotted. The town of Drumnadrochit (that’s a mouthful!) is a nice easy walk from Urquhart Castle, and I enjoyed the Scottish scenery in the area – especially as it was a nice sunny day with only a few drops of rain!
