World Travel 2013-2014, Eating out in Portugal

We had some wonderful lunches out during the short three days we were in Portugal. The first lunch out on the Sunday wasn’t as good, but that was to be expected for a Sunday as most of the smaller restaurants or cafes are closed.

If you’re looking for a good restaurant in Portugal, we followed these tips which worked very well for us:
Look out for
– Hand written menu in Portuguese (avoid places with typed menus or menus in English)
– Wooden chairs
– TV playing soccer or local TV shows

Sounds like a bit of a strange list of things to look for, but it seemed to work for us to find a restaurant that served delicious food, and at 5 to 7.5 euro for a huge main dish you get a lot of food for your money.
