Easter on Kangaroo Island 2013 – Sunsets and Farmers Market

On the Saturday, we were fortunate enough to see the kestrel which moves up and down the coastline hunting for prey. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t that great so there was a bit of adjusting required to the image to be able to see some of the detail in the photo. We also had a beautiful sunset on the Saturday night with the cloud cover, with some rather amazing shades of pink and orange.

On the Sunday we went to the special Easter Sunday Market that was on at Lloyd Collins Reserve and the Football Oval. Unfortunately Kate was too sick to join us, but Takeshi and I had a great time wandering around and checking out the produce which ranged from hand made trains and soaps, to olive oils, honey and jams. One of the most exciting stalls though was the stall selling Mrs. Sexton’s famous spring rolls, curry puffs and dim sims. Not only is her cooking absolutely amazing, but the prices are great ($2.50 for a huge spring roll, or 3 curry puffs / dim sims) AND it fund raises to support students across the island. Mrs Sexton’s hard work at the markets has helped two students recently go overseas for World Youth Day and also funds prizes for the top year 9 math students on the island. Amazing!
