World Travel 2013-2014, Banteay Samrie

Banteay Samrie was our last stop for temples in the Angkor Wat Archaeological Park. Our main goal today was to head out to Banteay Srei, but as we had some time on the way back we decided to stop into another temple which happened to be on the route our tuk tuk driver was taking.

Banteay Samrie was built in the early 12th century, and is a Hindu temple, in the same style as Angkor Wat. Although the materials used are the same as Banteay Srei, I would have to say that Banteay Srei is the more impressive of the two temples in terms of carvings and details (the colour of the stone probably helps make the carvings stand out too).
