World Travel 2013-2014, Visiting Shinjuku and Shibuya

Plan of attack for today – Fish Market and Imperial Garden. Did we do either? Nup. We ended up changing our mind about the fish market today, and it turns out the Imperial Garden is closed on Mondays and Fridays (drat!) so that changed that plan.

Instead we hopped on a train out to Shinjuku to visit the Meiji Jingu shrine dedicated to the late Emperor Meiji. While we were in the area we also wandered through Yoyogi Park (still amazed that no parks in Japan have any form of grass) before starting our walk towards Shibuya. Along the way we wandered through Harajuku and Takeshita Street which are worth visiting if you’re a young female wanting cute clothing – either that or if you want to see people in interesting costumes.

Our final stop of the day was Shibuya. By accident we managed to stumble across the Robot Restaurant but it was a bit too noisy so we thought it would be best to get a meal somewhere which wouldn’t destroy our ears! Our final stop in Shibuya was the Government Observatory where we got a nice night view of Shibuya and Tokyo. It’s not as impressive as the Sky Tower view, but hey, it’s free entry so you can’t beat that!
