World Travel 2013-2014, A Month of British Food

This post is a bit of a hard one, as although we had some wonderful meals with Andre and Yun while we were in the UK, and we were also able to cook some food ourselves (such a treat) we had a series of real hits and misses eating out.

Normally I only share the nice meals we enjoy, the ones which are colourful and pretty or just plain delicious. Basically the ones that photograph really well. We’ve had some good and bad meals elsewhere, but this time, I had to include what was probably one of the worst meals that I ate on this trip so far. I seriously felt like I was going to have a heart attack just looking at it, and did not enjoy one thing about it. Yes, it was the so called chicken burger with chips at the local chippy in Glasgow, Scotland.

Now keep in mind, that it was getting late, we didn’t have a lot of options and so we resorted to what looked like it could be a bit of a hit or miss place. Oh it was a miss alright.

Just look at it! A deep fried piece of chicken, literally slapped in a white bread roll served with copious amounts of soggy half warm chips that had probably been sitting around all day. I remember ordering a veggie burger in Nepal and getting a deep fried patty in a roll with a small salad on the side. That had a lot of flavour and at least it had some salad – this had no salad at all, not even a slice of tomato or a piece of lettuce!

So far, this meal wins the ‘Worst Food of the World Trip’ award. Although that said, this burger (below) in London was a close second behind Glasgow – it only edged ahead due to the inclusion of some flavourless salad. Congratulations Glasgow :/

Well, with that negativity out of the way, lets add a few more photos of (at times) a bit nicer looking food.
