World Travel 2013-2014, The Luck of the Irish, Sampling Irish Food
After our bad experience in Glasgow, I was curious (and a bit apprehensive) to see if we would find a bit better food while we were in Dublin. It was a bit of treat but with two lunches out at restaurants, we managed to find rather nice food both times (phew!). So here are a few photos of the food!
First lunch in Dublin was at a Chinese restaurant not far from our accommodation. We only just snuck in on the lunch deal which included a starter and a main dish for just under $8 Euro (approximately $12 AUD).
First up Takeshi’s starter of spring rolls. Rather nice and crunchy with lots of bean sprouts in them.

And my starter of chicken and corn soup. Very filling and nice and warming after a cold day of wandering around.

Next was the main dish. Takeshi ordered the wonton soup (of course) which unfortunately wasn’t as nice as the other dishes. It wasn’t bad, but the broth didn’t have as nice of a flavour and it was a bit strange having buckwheat noodles in a wonton soup dish.

And my main was the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. There was no way I was going to be able to eat all of this food, but fortunately Takeshi was able to walk away with a very full tummy!

Finally, a few quick photos from our pub meal in Dublin. I was a bit dubious about how this meal would taste after our experience in Glasgow but it was actually rather nice. The chips were crunchy, and the main dish had a nice flavour. Health wise, no so good for you, but what can you do!
Please excuse the photos – pub lighting isn’t the best for the poor video camera. Takeshi enjoyed the chicken breast strips with chips and salad.

While I ordered the beef lasagne with chips and salad. It was good to leave Dublin experiencing some better food than that meal in Glasgow!
