World Travel 2013-2014, Ueno Park and Zoo
Our first full day in Tokyo after the flight! (We did manage to get a fair bit done on our travel day though) As we were staying not far from Asakusa we decided to walk over to Yanaka to see the Tennoji temple, and then wandered down to Ueno Park. The parks in Tokyo are a welcome change from all of the concrete and buildings, although they are very different to the parks in Australia. There is no grass in any parks or playgrounds in Japan.
We had a relaxing day walking around Ueno Zoo before beginning our walk down to Akihabara. Akihabara is filled with lights and people, although personally I think unless you’re interested in buying electronics it isn’t a top destination to visit. All up we walked for about 12 hours today, covering over 15km of ground which I think was a good effort!
